BOTULINUM TOXIN A
(antiwrinkle injections)

Botulinum Toxin A is a prescription only medicine which can be used to treat numerous medical and aesthetic conditions. In aesthetics, it is used to treat facial lines caused by muscle contraction/movement. It works by blocking the nerve signals to the muscle causing the injected muscle to relax. The process is very simple, a very fine needle is used to inject small quantities of toxin into the muscles to be treated. The toxin causes the muscle to relax, and the lines and wrinkles soften. The effect of treatment takes between 4 to 14 days to take full effect and lasts 3-4 months (sometimes longer) however, some movement may start to return after about 8 weeks.

The most popular treatment areas are the forehead lines (frontalis), frown lines (glabella complex) and crow's feet lines (orbicularis oculi). Frown and Crow's feet can be treated independently, however, forehead lines should be done with frown lines to prevent a brow drop ("angry eyebrows").

In addition to the usual areas treated, I am trained in advanced toxin procedures so am able to use toxin in treat excessive underarm sweating, give a brow lift, treat jelly roll (under eye bags), treat gummy smile, masseter (jaw) hypertrophy, neck bands and lines (think Deidre Barlow), smokers lines around the mouth and chin dimpling. These can all be done as stand alone treatments or can be added on to planned procedures. Please book an appointment to discuss these procedures
